Samsung Introduces its 2021 Series of Odyssey Gaming Monitors

Samsung introduced its 2021 series of Odyssey gaming monitors – the G70A, the G50A, and the G30A. The series comes with flat panels, unlike the curved panels found on its predecessors.

On the top, we have the G70A with a 28-inch, 3840 x 2160 IPS panel with a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz. The panel on this model has a peak brightness of 400 nits, with 300 nits typical brightness, supporting VESA DisplayHDR 400 standard. This model also features AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support and is Nvidia G-SYNC Compatible certified.

This model also features a single DisplayPort 1.4 port and dual HDMI 2.1 ports. The dual HDMI 2.1 ports will connect the latest generation consoles, such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

According to a source, “Auto Source Switch+ lets the monitor automatically turn on and switch to the correct source when a connected device is turned on.”

Then comes the G50A with a 27-inch, 2560 x 1440 resolution IPS panel with up to 165Hz refresh rate, supporting HDR10 and has a typical brightness of 350 nits. This model supports FreeSync Premium and is G-SYNC Compatible certified. Connectivity-wise, this model includes a single DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0.

The G70A and the G50A also feature Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture, Low Input Lag Mode, Super Arena Gaming UX, Ultrawide Game View, and CoreSync Lighting.

The base-level model is the G30A, which comes in two sizes – 27-inch and 24-inch. Both variants bring a VA panel with a 1920 x 1080 and up to 144Hz refresh rate. There’s no HDR support on this model, while the maximum brightness is around 250 nits. Like G50A, the G30A also supports FreeSync Premium. However, it isn’t G-SYNC Compatible certified by Nvidia. Port selection is limited to a single DisplayPort 1.2 and a single HDMI 1.4.

All three models of Samsung’s Odyssey gaming monitors come in the same black color, featuring a height-adjustable stand with tilt, swivel, and pivot option.
