Samsung introduces Matter compatibility to the SmartThings app on iOS

Last year, the tech firm Samsung declared that it will introduce matter compatibility to its SmartThings platform. In addition to the SmartThings platform, the Matter support will also extend to smart TVs and home appliances. The tech announced this news during the Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event held during the second half of the year. In the last few weeks, the tech firm has introduced Matter compatibility for various devices as well as Android apps. Now recently, the company has introduced the latest smart home standard for iOS apps of Samsung.

The iOS app of SmartThings by Samsung has received a new update. The new update has introduced Matter compatibility to the app. With the new update, the app’s version has jumped to 1.6.94. Users can access the latest version from App Store. With the new update, users can control SmartThings as well as Matter-compatible home appliances. these appliances could be smart buttons, smart sensors, smart lights, smart refrigerators, smart door locks, smart ACs, smart power sockets, compatible Wi-Fi routers, network bridges, and smart washing machines.

The Matter is the latest smart home standard. It has been designed by a joint collaboration of LG, Amazon, Google, Apple, IKEA, Samsung, and various other members. The new standard is termed CSA [Connectivity Standards Alliance]. In 2022, the first stable version of smart home connectivity was introduced. In the coming months, it is anticipated that it will expand further. In the future, we can expect more devices to have support for Matter.

In addition to these, Samsung is introducing some new improvements to Matter. Since the South Korean tech company has collaborated with Google and Amazon to enhance integration with SmartThings. The newly added Matter-compatible devices via the SmartThings app would automatically show in Alexa and Google Home apps.
