SDIRC is Samsung SDI’s third international R&D facility

This week, Samsung SDI inaugurated a brand-new research and development facility in Shanghai. It completes the company’s extensive network of R&D sites worldwide. It has been named the SDI Research & Development China, or SDIRC. The facility will partner with universities and research organizations in China, to obtain localized innovations, work with local people, and assess market trends,

From the perspective of advanced tech for electric vehicle batteries, China is making huge investments in the battery industry. Even Chinese universities are offering programs that are intended to train future battery professionals. Furthermore, at the SDIRC, a dedicated research lab will be established that will help with the development and verification of battery materials.

The global network of Samsung SDI’s research and development facilities will help SDIRC to be more competitive. It will focus on gaining key frameworks for battery production as well as advanced manufacturing methods and facilities that are available in China, Europe, and the US.
