Samsung is all set to introduce pilot production lines at its chip factory.
In accordance with a recent report by The Elec, Samsung will introduce experimental production lines at two chip manufacturing plants. Reportedly, these pilot lines will be launched in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, and Taylor, USA. Given the context of the semiconductor industry, a company usually builds a pilot production line three months prior to beginning the main production lines. It is done in order to check and set up the equipment, manufacturing process, error elimination, trial production, and other such things.
The Pyeongtaek factory of Samsung already holds various manufacturing lines of semiconductors. Given the Pyeongtaek factory, a pilot production line will be established at the P4 production line. It indicates that once a pilot line starts running smoothly. A primary production line will be built at the same P4 setup. Therefore, in the future, we can expect that the P4 setup gets equipped with mass production of semiconductors.
However, no details related to the pilot line at the Taylor factory have been shared by the tech company. Since the Taylor factory is under construction, currently, it is not dealing with any manufacturing process. It is expected that by the end of next year Taylor factory will be fully functional. Although the company is way behind the set timeline. It is anticipated that construction at the Taylor factory might speed up in H1 2023.
Samsung is taking steps to grow its semiconductor business. Side by side the tech giant is anticipating that in contrast to the previous year less revenue could be generated in 2023. However, experts suggest that the chip market might rise in 2024. It is when the company can generate profits and revenues. Given the increased prices for components of smartphones, the tech firm is anticipating fewer earnings in 2023 from the smartphone business as well.
