Samsung will reportedly introduce a foldable having the largest bend display in 2023

Samsung is one of those brands that are planning to introduce large-display foldable in 2023. Despite this similarity with other brands, Samsung is up to something quite different. It might introduce a display larger than any other when folded, in accordance with the NotebookCheck [@TheElec].

Since 2019 Samsung has played at the forefront of the foldable market. It started off by introducing the original Galaxy Fold. The Galaxy Fold is about 7.3-inch, tablet-sized having a flexible inner display. Several of the tweaks were added to the Galaxy Fold like an S-Pen stylus, fast charging, and water resistance. As of now, it appears that Samsung has decided to move to the next step.

The company is scheduled to utilize Samsung Display i.e., 17.3-inch OLED panels. They will reportedly bend to around 13.3 inches diagonally when folded. Well, the publication speculated that as Samsung is going to utilize its own components in the forthcoming large-display foldable, the price could be comparatively less.

Some other brands that are set to introduce foldable in 2023 include HP. HG is focusing on introducing the first 17-inch foldable laptop. The display of the laptop will be provided by LG. where the device will measure only 11 inches when folded. This could be a big competition to the Samsung device. Since both devices are expected to arrive at nearly the same time.

As per TheElec, Samsung was expected to introduce its 17.3-inch in 2022. However, the plans were delayed due to some reasons unknown to us. If Samsung has introduced the foldable this year, it would have been a great competition with the Asus ZenBook 17 Fold and the ThinkPad X1 Fold Gen 2. The 17 Fold by Asus is a step down compared to what Samsung will be offering. It has a 17-inch screen provided by BOE. It folds into a 12.6-inch device. On the other hand, ThinkPad X1 Fold Gen 2 features a 16.3-inch OLED display. It folds into a 12-inch device.

Although there are some hints and news suggesting that the large display foldable are not in great demand. In addition to this, they are quite expensive. Since the Asus ZenBook 17 Fold is available for $3,500 and the ThinkPad X1 Fold Gen 2 is priced at $2,500. As per TheElec, Asus had already placed an order of 10,000 flexible OLED panels from BOE. Whereas, HP has instructed LG the manufacturing similar amounts.

Another thing to notice here is that Samsung delayed the launch of its large-display foldable still, it managed to upscale its orders of flexible OLED panels from 6 million to 8.5 million.
