Several Galaxy A and Galaxy M phones are no longer eligible for updates

In addition to discontinuing updates for Galaxy tablets and smartphones a few years after they launch, Samsung often lowers the frequency of updates for these devices. Additionally, the recently shared list of devices that will receive little or no updates is quite long. It lists several members of the Galaxy A and Galaxy M devices.

The Galaxy A20s, A30s, A50s, and A70s will no longer receive updates

The recent information indicates that several mid-range devices are no longer eligible for updates. Reportedly, there will be no updates for the Galaxy A20s, Galaxy A30s, Galaxy A50s, and Galaxy A70s since these devices have already completed their four years on the market. Besides these, the Galaxy Tab Active Pro, which debuted in October 2019, also falls under the same category of non-eligible devices for updates.

Two Galaxy M phones will receive less updates

With the Galaxy M series, the company offers selected features of the Galaxy A smartphones but at a low price tag. In late 2021, the company unveiled the Galaxy M22 and the Galaxy M52 5G. These devices received security updates every three months for the first two years following their launch. Notably, the company will now roll out fewer updates for these smartphones. In reality, there will be only two updates over the course of a year for the Galaxy M22 and the Galaxy M52 5G.

Well, this indicates that both smartphones won’t receive the Android 14 and One UI 6 updates. The South Korean conglomerate rolled out two major OS upgrades to the Galaxy M22 and the Galaxy M52 5G, as promised. Both smartphones received the Android 13 upgrade last year. Furthermore, One UI 5.1 updates were also rolled out to the Galaxy M52 5G. This update introduced some of the advanced features debuted on the Galaxy S23 series to mid-range smartphones.
