Small, affordable projector with a twist in the test

The Dangbei N2 is a full HD projector with 400 ISO lumens. It is available either as a solo version or in a set with a table tripod. The Dangbei Gimbal Stand helps to bring the projector into a suitable projection position. The front of the N2 immediately shows what kind of product it is: a projector. The openings for the speakers are located under the lens.

The smart projector is supplied with power on the back. Two USB devices and an HDMI device can also be connected. Soundbars or headphones can be connected via Bluetooth or the jack output. Dangbei has placed the power button with a white LED ring on the top. A small kickstand is also built in. The real strength of the N2, however, lies in the recess for the tripod screw.

The N2 starts up pleasingly quickly. Even during the boot process, you can see the autofocus at work: the lens is pushed into the right position. First, the remote control is connected to the Dangbei N2. The pairing process is started by pressing the right and volume down buttons at the same time. How important Netflix certification is to Dangbei is shown by the fact that after setting up WiFi, the user is offered the option to set up a Netflix account.

For many people, Netflix is ​​the preferred source for series and films and most people will therefore set it up straight away. The system is kept up to date via OTA updates (over-the-air updates). Our colleague Timm Mohn was offered an update in the last few weeks. The installation went without any problems.

Bright enough

The Dangbei N2 supports HDR10 and HLG. According to the data sheet, the image can be up to 120 inches in size. However, the projection surface in most private homes is likely to be smaller. Dangbei specifies the contrast ratio as 2000:1. The 400 ISO lumen bright image has a full HD resolution. The smart projector has two 6-watt speakers.

The Dolby Audio sound system is suitable for comedy series, breakfast TV or trash TV like “Love Island”. However, for a Netflix evening with action-packed films or series, you should use an external sound source. This can be connected via the jack connection on the back or via Bluetooth.

The 400 ISO lumen bright projector can be an entry into the world of smart projectors. If you are not sure whether the television has really served its purpose and whether projectors can become the new center of the entertainment system, you can try this out with the N2. Due to the comparatively low entry price compared to the upper class, there may still be budget left to retrofit a screen once the projector has proven itself on the house or room wall.
