Some Chase customers are experiencing issues with Apple Pay

Apple has officially introduce the Apple Pay service a while ago. It was initially tested by inviting some random users to utilize a prerelease version of Apple Pay followed by the release of its services outside of US. Apple has been regularly updating the service to provide best experience for its users. However, latest reports have claimed that Chase users are experiencing issues using Apple Pay on Saturday, with efforts to pay failing while a “unexpected upgrade” is supposedly ongoing.

A handful of iPhone customers who use Chase cards with Apple Pay realized on Saturday that their purchases were being declined in stores when utilizing Apple’s payment system. The issue was not with the card or the account, but with the connectivity to Apple Pay.

As per social media posts described the failures, such as the card being denied while using Apple Pay. It appears that just Chase is impacted, with other card issuers accepting payments as usual and the Chase cards themselves functioning normally.

According to the Apple Pay System Status page, as of 12PM Eastern, Apple Pay and Wallet are undergoing maintenance, with “some users” impacted. According to the status page, certain Maryland customers “may have issues during maintenance activities.”

A call to the Chase customer care line resulted in a 15-minute wait period, with representatives trained to inform consumers that Apple Pay is “going through maintenance” that includes a “unexpected upgrade.” The exact cause of the outage is unknown, and while it is evident that Apple is aware of the problems, there is no timeline for their resolution.
