Sony LinkBuds S details: smallest and lightest ANC headphones in the world

The Japanese manufacturer Sony has repeatedly celebrated success with its ANC headphones, as the devices are very popular despite the relatively high prices. The latest over-ear models are quickly followed by the “lightest and smallest” noise-canceling earplugs. The Sony LinkBuds S complement the line of wireless, ANC-compatible in-ear headphones recently created with the “punched” regular LinkBuds and once again offer a more traditional design. However, Sony wants to score with the fact that the LinkBuds S WF-LS900 are smaller and lighter than comparable models.

Packed with bites, they claim these are the smallest and lightest wireless headphones with active noise cancellation and High-Resolution Audio Wireless support. In fact, the headphones weigh only 4.8 grams each and are said to offer a runtime of up to 20 hours.

However, Sony apparently calculates runtime including charging via the battery in the carrying case, so it remains to be seen how long a battery charge will last for the LinkBuds S with noise cancellation activated. The small headphones should have a driver with a diameter of five millimeters, which can provide powerful bass and clear voice reproduction in equal measure.

Soon available in three colors

In addition, the LinkBuds S are IPX4 certified and can therefore withstand splashing water and sweat, so they can be used in the rain or during sports. The connection to the host device is of course via Bluetooth 5.2 and there is Adaptive Sound Control, among other things, so that the headphones automatically adjust their playback to deliver an optimal listening experience, regardless of the environment in which they are used. The integrated microphones are also used for the so-called Speak-To-Chat function so that music playback can be stopped automatically as soon as the user starts a conversation. The Sony LinkBuds S should soon be on the market for 199 euros and will then be available in black, white, and beige.
