Sony has announced the availability of a refurbished version of the regular PlayStation 5 in conjunction with the launch of the PlayStation 5 Pro, which will be available from November. This means that the PS5 can now be purchased – with a disc drive – for prices starting at 399 euros. Sony
The PlayStation 5 is still very popular, with Sony trying to boost sales again with the introduction of the PS5 Pro. After the massive availability problems of the past few years, the current Sony console is now widely available. If you look at the WinFuture price comparison, the cheapest version of the PS5, the Slim, still costs around 480 euros in new condition from trustworthy retailers.
If you want something a little cheaper, you can now purchase a refurbished version directly from Sony, i.e. a tested and overhauled version of the PS5 by an official Sony service partner, which is sold through retailers such as Media Markt, Saturn or Amazon for around 400 euros. In the official PlayStation Direct Store, however, the device costs 449.95 euros.
In any case, the customer receives a “refurbished and certified” game console, with only the CFI-1000A version available to begin with. This is the disc edition of the first edition of the PS5, which comes with a Blu-Ray drive and an 825 gigabyte SSD. In addition, the CFI-1000B version, which does not have an optical drive, will apparently also be available soon, although the price and possible availability date for this variant are not yet known.
In fact, only retailers list this model, so this could also be a mistake. In any case, the refurbished versions of the Sony PlayStation 5 always come with the new game Astro’s Playroom pre-installed, which has enjoyed extremely great popularity after its release within a short time. It should be noted again, however, that this is the first hardware revision of the PS5 consoles, i.e. devices that have theoretically been available since November 2020.
