Star Wars Battlefront 3: Disney is said to be in talks with studios

Disney and Lucasfilm are reportedly planning a return of the Star Wars Battlefront shooter series. Discussions are currently taking place with potential developers to find a suitable partner for the project. Two studios are said to be in the running.
Disney is looking for a development studio
After a year-long break, Disney and Lucasfilm are reportedly planning a sequel to the Star Wars Battlefront shooter series. On Monday it was announced that those responsible are currently actively looking for a development partner for Star Wars Battlefront 3. The discussions are apparently in an early phase, so no development work is likely to take place at the moment.
Insider Jeff Grubb brought up the topic in his Podcast on. Accordingly, Lucasfilm is exploring the market to find a suitable studio. So far, no company has made a firm commitment, but two large development studios are already showing interest in the project. Lucasfilm Games’ Douglas Reilly recently emphasized that big titles like Star Wars Battlefront remain an essential part of the strategy.
Return to EA?
As Game Rant reports, EA studio Dice is considered the most obvious candidate. The team was responsible for the reboot of the series in 2015 and the sequel Star Wars Battlefront 2 two years later. The latter caused criticism at the start because of microtransactions. The protest was so large that government organizations looked into loot boxes. Ultimately, EA removed the system.
Dice is currently busy supporting Battlefield 6. However, there are unconfirmed statements that the studio could be supported by Respawn Entertainment in a possible Star Wars Battlefront 3. The creators of Titanfall and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order also have experience in the shooter sector.
Bungie as an option
Bungie is discussing a second option. The developers of Halo and Destiny are a surprise, as the team is currently working on the shooter Marathon as well as the revival of Destiny 2. However, Bungie already gained experience with the Star Wars brand with the Renegades expansion for Destiny 2. The developers received praise from players and the industry for the gunplay. According to Grubb, a new project could help the studio get back on its feet.
However, he assumes that the game is more likely to be awarded to Dice. Meanwhile, fans continue to hope for an official sequel. In the past, they have already created modifications for Star Wars Battlefront 3 and started petitions for its development. However, until an official confirmation is made, the game remains a rumor for now. A new Star Wars Battlefront 3 is apparently under discussion.
