Tech Dubai: Cars in Dubai will automatically report accidents

All new vehicles on the roads of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 2019 will be equipped with a latest smart feature installed which automatically reports an accident to the emergency centers, according to the UAE telecommunications regulator.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) on Monday has announced the number of emergency centers in the United Arab Emirate (UAE) in cooperation with Dubai and Abu Dhabi police to support the new smart feature of the eCall system to automatically report the accident events.

This advance eCall system will bring fast and innovative solutions to power up the response time in traffic accidents, said Major General Mohammad Khalfan Al Romaithi, Commander in Chief of Abu Dhabi Police department.

This eCall system will be the first smart feature in the Middle East for the vehicles that receive calls through the electronics equipment. The eCall system will automatically send details of the accident and make emergency calls to the command and control center of the vehicle that will be in the jurisdiction where the accident takes place.

The eCall system also allows the emergency team in command and control center, to speak to the driver if required to collect more information about the incident and send rescue team and ambulance as fast as possible.
