Tesla Cybertruck production gets postponed again

Tesla unveiled its futuristic Cybertruck a good two years ago, and more than a million people have now pre-ordered the vehicle (which doesn’t actually mean anything). But interested parties will have to wait a long time before they can even hope for a copy. When Tesla boss Elon Musk presented the Cybertruck, on the one hand the enthusiasm of the fans of the electric car manufacturer went through the roof, on the other hand the critics doubted whether and when the vehicle could realistically be implemented.

Because of its appearance, the Cybertruck is hardly or not at all roadworthy in many countries. And even if: Tesla does not currently have the production capacity to meet the supposed demand. “Supposedly” by the way because Tesla has more than a million reservations, but with the exception of a fee of $100 (which you get back if you change your mind), they are non-binding.

first quarter of 2023 in the end

But even if you mean it completely seriously: Before 2023 nobody will be able to sit in a production car. Because the news agency Reuters recently confirmed that mass production of the Cybertruck will not begin until the end of the first quarter of next year. The source of this information is not the carmaker itself, but a “person familiar with the matter”.

According to the Reuters informant, the change in plan not only has to do with capacities, but also with adjustments to the vehicle itself. Because Tesla wants to change the features and functions of the electric pickup in order to create a “convincing product”. Because the competitors are not sleeping and Tesla is also coming under more and more pressure. In any case, the start in the first quarter of 2023 should be given a bigger asterisk: Because it should start with a limited production, only then should the production numbers be increased.
