The ‘App highlights’ feature has been widely rolled out by Google Play Store

Just recently, we learned that the tech giant Google was testing a new AI feature for its Play Store app. Reportedly, the company was experimenting with the ‘App highlights’ feature. According to fresh pieces of information, the company is now rolling out the feature officially.

The new feature was spotted by Android Police. Users can “Watch the highlights of apps/games in places on Google Play Store,” according to the most recent version of the Google System Release Notes. Although the word ‘Watch’ is used in the passage it appears to refer to the text-based App highlights feature that was being tested by the company in a server-side update in February.

As the name indicates, the main aspects of an app are highlighted by this feature. It gives a quick summary of the app its purpose and functionality. It can give users a brief look at the app. It eliminates the requirement of going through the app’s description. It can be found on the app’s description page in a rectangular box just beneath the install button.

Well, it is not the only AI feature that is under development by Google. Besides the App highlights feature, the company is working on an AI-generated FAQ section. In contrast to the App highlights feature, the AI-generated FAQ section can be found on the bottom of the description page. This feature hasn’t been made available to the general public yet, though.
