The Apple Vision Pro is not compatible with UWB or Wi-Fi 6E

After two days, the Vision Pro headset by Apple will be available for pre-order. In the meantime, the device was certified by the FCC. The certification unveiled some interesting details about the Vision Pro. According to details, the upcoming headset by Apple lacks the support for Wi-Fi 6E and UWB.

Apple Vision Pro lacks support for Wi-Fi 6E

The mixed-reality headset’s Wi-Fi networking uses the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, according to the FCC certification. There is no indication that the device supports a 6 GHz frequency band that is essential for Wi-Fi 6E. This means that the Vision Pro headset lacks Wi-Fi 6E support. The device is restricted to Wi-Fi 6.

Apple Vision Pro does not support Ultra Wideband

Besides the details unveiled about the Wi-Fi 6E, the certification indicates that the Vision Pro headset lacks support for Ultra Wideband (UWB). An Apple product with UWB compatibility can be precisely located using compatible iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Watch devices. It’s unfortunate that you won’t be able to accomplish this because it would have been a really helpful feature.

Apple M2 is the reason behind the lack of these features

When it comes to affordability and pricing, the new headset by Apple costs around $3,499. The device has no support for Wi-Fi 6E and UWB even with a huge price tag is quite disappointing where these connectivity features are also available with other affordable products from the company. The reports suggest that the chipset that powers the headset doesn’t support the above-mentioned features. The Vision Pro headset is powered by the Apple M2 chipset. The Apple M3, on the other hand, which powers the latest Mac devices supports these features.
