Since the beginning of 2023, we have come across several changes in the tech industry like downsizing, increased charges for their services, the addition of new revenue streams, closing down of certain business units and etc. The same is the case with Paramount which declared in February that the prices of the Paramount Plus subscription service will increase later this year.
By that time, the company didn’t reveal any specific details about the upcoming changes. However, the announcement by the company indicated that the changes will take place by Q3 2023. As of now, the company has given an accurate date for the new changes. The service charges for Paramount Plus will increase from June 27.
Well, the changes are applicable to the ad-supported and premium plans. As per reports, the ad-supported plan was priced at $4.99. it will now cost $5.99 per month. Similarly, the premium plan will go up from $9.99 to $ 11.99 while staying ad-free.
In addition to this, one particular group of subscribers won’t be affected by this change i.e., subscribers of Paramount Plus Premium with Showtime. Do note that Showtime is not included in the Premium Plan which was previously priced at $9.99. However, with the new changes the company is introducing the Showtime with Premium Plan that will cost around $11.99.
Showtime offers some good content. Having said that, this streaming service is simply another in a sea of competitors that has raised fees in the past. Therefore, it won’t be shocking if some people choose to end things.
