The first rollable smartphone could arrive by the second half of 2024

Several companies have introduced their foldable smartphones. we have been witnessing them for quite some time now. They have been massively improved since the time they were first introduced. Previously, we have also heard about a rollable smartphone. A fresh piece of information suggested that the first rollable smartphone could arrive as early as the second half of 2024.

A rollable smartphone could be a competition with foldable smartphones. However, it will be a fresh addition to the smartphone market. Previously, in November 2020, OPPO announced that it was working on the development of a rollable smartphone i.e., OPPO X 2021. However, we have not seen anything such from OPPO in the market. Similarly, LG also declared that it has prepared its first commercially-available rollable smartphone. However, the company’s mobile division got shut down before that.

The recent piece of information was provided by a tipster named Revegnus. The tipster mentioned the Chinese OEMs in his tweet. He asserts that because Samsung is well ahead in the foldable market, Chinese OEMs are rushing to create new form factors. Well, Samsung is leading the sales and market share of foldable smartphones.

He claims that the Chinese companies would introduce a slidable phone by H2 2024. Specifically, the tipster has not mentioned the names of the companies. however, we do have an idea of which companies are working on such technology. OPPO is definitely one of them. Similarly, the sister companies of OPPO like Vivo and OnePlus, Huawei, Xiaomi, and HONOR, are some other companies that could be working on a rollable smartphone.

With the release of new form factors, the options list increases for the consumers. However, it also increases the competition. As a result of this competition, consumers usually get better and cheaper products.
