The first trailer for Shazam 2 is here

Warner Bros. released the first real trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods was released. The video, which of course premiered this weekend at Comic-Con in San Diego, shows the rather inexperienced title hero, who has to deal with a number of new adversaries, but fortunately also has active support.

The comic book adaptation Shazam became a big hit in 2019. Part of the reason for this was that the movie was significantly less grainy than most other DC Comics adaptations. The second part should not change this recipe for success. In the first trailer, we see the boy Billy Batson (played by Asher Angel) and his alter ego Shazam (Zachary Levy).

Apparently, his self-confidence is damaged and he also has problems with the goddesses Calypso (Lucy Liu) and Hespera (Helen Mirren), who want to take the boy’s powers away. Meanwhile, Billy’s foster siblings have all been given superpowers, so the balance of power here must be fairly distributed. By the way, if you look closely at the trailer, you can discover some funny details (like the doll from Annabelle). Shazam! Fury of the Gods hits theaters on December 21, 2022.
