The Last of US: HBO series will air in early 2023
HBO has finally revealed a release window for one of the most anticipated series of the moment. According to Casey Bloys, content manager of the American channel, the film adaptation of The Last of Us should land on our screens in early 2023. We will have to wait a little longer for an exact date.
Since the announcement of the PS5 remake of the first opus of the saga by Naughty Dog, anticipation around the adaptation of The Last of Us has kicked up a notch. For several months now, HBO has been very sparing in detail on the subject, content with revealing just a few photos here and there to maintain community interest.
While many expected the series to be available by the end of the year, we learned in February that it will finally have to wait until 2023 to discover Joel and Ellie’s adventures. For a while, this was the only information we had about the series’ release until a rumor raised the possibility of an early 2023 broadcast. Ultimately, it turns out the latter got it right. Interviewed by our colleagues at The Hollywood Reporter, HBO’s head of content Casey Bloys confirmed that The Last Of Us series the channel plans to air early next year. No further details at this time.
Just a few more months to wait for The Last of Us series
Indeed, this is the only information Casey Bloys has attempted to provide on the subject, which is not mentioned again in the rest of the interview. So we’ll have to settle for this relatively vague exit window, although it does specify the progress of the project in HBO’s offices somewhat. That said, let’s not forget that Casey Bloys gave us a channel objective, not a clear and precise schedule.
In other words, the series could thus arrive later, in mid-2023 or even at the end of the year. It’s not uncommon for production to fall behind even when filming is complete, especially for series as ambitious as The Last of Us, which has everything it takes to become HBO’s new flagship. On the other hand, this also means that we could potentially be entitled to the first official trailer of the series by the end of 2022. So let’s be on our guard.
