The new Exynos 5300 modem by Samsung is faster and more power-efficient

The South Korean tech firm has introduced its new generation of 5G modems. As per the information, the company has unveiled the Exynos Modem 5300. Samsung usually debuts the latest cellular modems inside its latest Exynos processors. However, this year the company has not introduced any Exynos processor. So, it is anticipated that the Exynos Modem 5300 will be utilized in the next-gen Google Tensor chipset that could fuel the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro.

The modem is built on a 4nm EUV process. It is manufactured by Samsung Foundry. The reports indicate that the recent product is way much better in contrast to the Exynos Modem 5123 which was built on a 7nm EUV process. Such a capacity makes the modem more power-efficient than the previous offerings.

Furthermore, the new telecommunication chip presents excellent download speeds of up to 10Gbps and upload speeds of up to 3.87Gbps. In addition to this, it provides ultra-low latency with support for FR1, FR2, and EN-DC (E-UTRAN New Radio – Dual Connectivity) technology. The telecommunication chip has support for mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G networks in both SA (Standalone) and NSA (Non-Standalone) modes.

Additionally, the Exynos 5300 has compatibility with 3GPP’s 5G NR Release 16 standard. Thus, indicating faster and more efficient 5G networks. The LTE mode of Exynos 5300 supports peak download speeds of up to 3Gbps. It supports peak upload speeds of up to 422Mbps. Furthermore, the chip can be connected via a PCIe connection with a smartphone chipset.

Well, on record, the Exynos Modem 5300 appears similar to Snapdragon X70 Modem. Since it offers similar upload and download speeds on compatible 5G networks. Besides this, the company has not shared whether the new 5G modem has support for the Dual-SIM Dual-Active feature or not.
