The next big streaming service to take action against password sharing is Hulu

In recent years, streaming services have started a crackdown against password sharing. Some of the notable examples include Netflix and Disney Plus. According to some recent pieces of information, another streaming platform is set to adopt a similar strategy. We are talking about Hulu.

In accordance with the details shared on Reddit and The Verge, the company has changed its terms of service. With the new policy, the company is going to ban the practice of account sharing among users. Reportedly, the new terms are applicable to both new subscribers and existing users. The new policy has been applicable to new users since January 25. However, it will be applied to existing users as of March 14.

The pertinent section of the subscriber agreement states, “You are prohibited from sharing your subscription outside of your immediate family unless otherwise allowed by your subscription’s tier.” The corporation further states, “We may, in our sole judgment, analyze the use of your account to figure out compliance with this Agreement,” reserving the right to restrict or terminate access or take other actions.

With this recent approach by several streaming platforms, it is now evident that the password-sharing practice is considered a hindrance to future growth when it comes to users. The recent decision by Hulu is followed by a recent announcement by Netflix that its user base has increased because of the account-sharing crackdown.
