TikTok users will no longer be able to hide unwanted ads

TikTok users would soon start getting unavoidable ads, based on the search history.

Starting April 15th, “your settings will change and the ads you’ll see may start to be based on what you do on TikTok.” As of now, the app has a feature allowing users to choose whether they’ll be served ads based on their activity.

However, users will still be able to control personalized ads. The change in the privacy settings reflects the way ads work on many other social media sites.

The change is would start with Apple’s upcoming version of iOS 14, which would require developers to get users’ consent to track data across apps for targeted advertising.

It is said that these personalized ads will allow TikTok to target advertising to some extent as more people opt out of cross-app tracking.
