Unsane: First Horror Movie Shot Completely on iPhone

Steven Soderbergh has shot a horror movie called Unsane. The whole movie has been shot on an iPhone. Soderbergh is the director/cinematographer/camera operator of the movie.

Bleecker Street has released the first trailer for the movie.

The whole movie is shot on an iPhone, before him other filmmakers have also shot movies through phones but Soderbergh is one of the known filmmakers who has taken such a bold step. Previously Sean Baker and Park Chan-wook also shot movies on iPhone. Soderbergh has done more experimentation in his movie. The lead star of the movie is Claire Foy. The marketing campaign for the movie will be crafted by the man himself, Soderbergh like he did in Logan Lucky.

The trailer of Unsane proves that art doesn’t depend on technology. You can create a masterpiece even with minimal tech help. An idea, a thought, and a great director can create a miracle. Magic can be brought on-screen even if you shoot a movie from an iPhone.

The inspiration for Soderbergh was Sean Baker’s movie Tangerine which he shot on iPhone as well. This pushed Soderbergh to create a movie using just an iPhone.

Soderbergh said,  “I look at this as potentially one of the most liberating experiences that I’ve ever had as a filmmaker, and that I continue having. The gets that I felt moment to moment were so significant that this is, to me, a new chapter.

Interesting: UK Satellite will make movies from space

Unsane is a story about a woman who is convinced that she can see her stalker everywhere and anywhere. She involuntarily admits herself in a psych ward. There too her stalker doesn’t leave her, so much so that she wonders whether she is in ultimate danger or has she really gone crazy.

The cast of Soderbergh’s movie includes Joshua Leonard, Jay Pharoah, Juno Temple, Aimee Mullins, and Amy Irving.
