Verizon introduces a simple feature to block spam email texts
Tired of email-to-text messages from unknown or spammy email addresses? Just don’t worry; Verizon has come to your rescue. The company claims that users can stop these spam messages by simply sending a message “Off” to 4040. In this way, they can block messages from emails.
The company claims that 80% of email-to-text messages received by its users are spam. Well, this is quite upsetting since it can harm the users. Previously, the company enabled users to turn off these messages by signing into their My Verizon account. However, not every consumer is making use of this feature. Now, as an alternative, the company is rolling out a rather simple and convenient approach that can be implied directly by a user’s phone.
It’s important to note that disabling email-to-text will prevent all text messages from email addresses from being received. This implies that you won’t get any real messages from emails either. You may be better off keeping email-to-text activated for your Verizon number if you frequently receive these kinds of communications.
Besides this, it can be activated easily. In order to enable it, simply send the text “On” to 4040, and email-to-text messages will begin to be received. In order to determine the status of the feature, users can text “Status” to 4040 to find out whether the feature is activated or deactivated.
You will receive one of the following messages, depending on your situation: “Email-to-Text is banned for your phone number. To allow it, text “on” to 4040. or “Your phone number has been approved for Email-to-Text. To block, text “off” to 4040. You can respond in return. To get instructions on how to enable/disable email-to-text, send “Help” to 4040.
