WhatsApp beta testing Newsletters on Android

Just a few days ago some reports indicated that WhatsApp is working on another new feature. The reports suggested that the messaging app will soon introduce the newsletter feature. As of now, we have received some updates in form of some glimpses that present an overall look at how the feature will appear in the final version.

According to information from WABetaInfo, the company has begun testing the new feature in the beta v2.23.5.8 on Android. The feature is similar to a traditional newsletter. It will present the users with the option to select their preferred channel’s broadcast. For sure, it is going to be yet another amazing feature for small businesses, companies, and government organizations. since they will be able to update their audiences in a more effective manner

The recent information indicates that the Newsletters feature will appear under the Status tab. Use the username to search for the newsletter. Furthermore, the users will be presented with the unsubscribe option as well. Besides this new feature, some changes will be introduced to the Status tab as well. It will now be presented with a horizontal layout for status updates. Sounds similar to the one presented with Instagram Stories.

The new modification to the status tab indicates that the newsletters will require more space on the page because of the huge number of status updates. Besides this, newsletters will be presented in chronological order. It appears like algorithmic recommendations are not yet an option for the app.

Furthermore, some points are still unclear with the latest feature. For instance, who can create a newsletter, and how the notifications for newsletters will work? Well, the feature is still in the developmental phase. There is no official word on the release of the feature for the general public. On the other hand, the feature is available in the beta version, we can anticipate that it will soon arrive in the stable version.
