WhatsApp Co-Founder Says, ‘It is time #deletefacebook’

Facebook is going through a tough time, with one after another controversy hitting the social media giant, hard. The recent controversy surrounding Facebook was that 50 million Facebook user’s data was breached in the last US Presidential Election. This whole date breach played a major part in the results of the elections.

Now WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton has joined the bandwagon of those asking people to delete Facebook. In his recent tweet, Acton says “It is time #deletefacebook”.

Acton was the one who sold WhatsApp to Facebook for a price of $19 billion dollars. He has been working with Facebook from September 2017. So now a person who was working in a senior position with Facebook has decided to boycott it. If Facebooks own people have turned against the app, what can possibly the future of such a platform?

The #deletefacebook hashtag has been trending on Twitter immediately after the whole data breach controversy started. Till now the Founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg and COO of Facebook Sheryl Sandberg have not commented on this deteriorating situation.

Facebook communications statement has been issued which says, “The claim that this is a data breach is completely false. Aleksandr Kogan requested and gained access to information from users who chose to sign up for his app, and everyone involved gave their consent.”

It is pertinent to mention here that Mark Zuckerberg was expected to come at the Facebook employees’ meeting but he escaped that meeting as there were chances of the discussion about the data breach and its implications.
