WhatsApp Introduces New Features: Animated Stickers And QR Code Group Calling

After the feature can already be found in many other instant messengers, WhatsApp has now integrated animated stickers into the application. So far, only static stickers could be used. In addition, WhatsApp has announced several other features.

As Android Police reports, the animated stickers were first found in beta version 2.20.194.7 of the Android app from WhatsApp. After the function has disappeared again with a subsequent version, WhatsApp has now integrated the feature again in beta version 2.20.195.2. In addition, WhatsApp has now officially shown the function in a video.

The animated stickers expand the existing sticker function. An associated animation is automatically played once before the sticker appears as a static image. As soon as the user scrolls up and down again, the animation is displayed again. Of course, this can be repeated any number of times.

WhatsApp To Soon Allow Same Account On Multiple Devices

Only a few stickers sets currently available

However, only a few new sticker sets are currently available. By default, the app only comes with a single set of animated stickers. Three more sets can be used after you have received a sticker from the respective set from another contact. However, users have the option of designing and importing their own sticker sets. At the moment, the animated stickers can only be tried out by a few testers. It is not yet known when the feature will be integrated into a final version of the Android and iOS apps.

QR Code Group Calling And Dark Mode For Desktop

In addition to the animated stickers, Facebook plans to include many more features in WhatsApp in the future. There will soon be a dark mode for the desktop app and the web variant of the service. In addition, users will soon have the option to add other users to the contact list by scanning a QR code. Users of the KaiOS operating system, which is known from feature phones, can also look forward to innovation. The app will soon receive an update that brings the already known status messages with it.
