After receiving counter indirect threats from WhatsApp users after its recently announced privacy policy, the social networking app is delaying its update to increase business transactions on the platform.
This earlier privacy threat from WhatsApp made everyone talk to switch to other alternatives including Telegram and Signal.
The app, after all the counter threats from the audience, is now delaying its policy feature till May’21 instead of Feb’21.
A statement from WhatsApp read:
This update does not expand our ability to share data with Facebook,
While not everyone shops with a business on WhatsApp today, we think that more people will choose to do so in the future and it’s important people are aware of these services,
It is also said that the app claims:
We don’t keep logs of who everyone’s messaging or calling. We also can’t see your shared location and we don’t share your contacts with Facebook
While experts say otherwise. According to them, the app already shares certain categories of personal data, including the user’s phone number and IP address, with Facebook.
