WhatsApp will soon introduce a side-by-side view for chats

Google has worked quite hard for introducing optimizations to the operating system on tablets. For this reason, Android has become a comparatively better place for tablets. Following the footprints of Google, other companies have begun to upgrade their apps for tablets. One such recent example is WhatsApp. Reportedly, WhatsApp is working on a side-by-side view for WhatsApp chats.

The company usually tests the new features in its beta testing community. Users frequently try out new features. furthermore, the company is also introducing a feature that will enable users to edit contacts within the app. Thus, eliminating the requirement of exiting the app and editing WhatsApp contacts.

A new side-by-side view for chats is under testing

Such a feature would be quite beneficial for users that use the messaging platform on their tablets. Whereas using an app designed for a smartphone on a tablet could be annoying at times. The user interface presented on the tablet could hamper the functionality of the app. For this reason, the company is working on this new feature.

The new feature was spotted in the fresh version of the WhatsApp beta (Android 2.23.9.20). currently, the beta program is closed. Users are required to wait until the feature rolls out. With the latest updates, a new option is provided in the settings menu. It shows the option to swap the side-by-side feature on and off.

When the feature is enabled, the chat splits into two columns. One column features the recent chat conversation. While all other conversations are shown in the other column. In this way, users can rapidly swap between chat conversations without leaving the current one. As of now, there is no information on when the feature will be rolled out publicly.
