Why is HMD Global Delaying Android Updates for its Nokia Smartphones?

For several years, HMD Global has been doing pretty well in delivering Nokia smartphones. The company has some seven phones for 2021. The only challenge the company is currently facing is rolling out Android updates. The company could delay Android 11 updates for most of the smartphones this year.

It seems HMD Global is short of talent. Last year, the company announced an Android 11 update for three devices, while the rest were expected to receive this first half. The company is already slow in delivering its promise since the Nokia 8.3 5G, which was supposed to get the update in Q4 of 2020. Instead, it received it in Q1 of 2021.

HMD Global has now shared an updated schedule for the rollout. The company would delay sending out the updates by one quarter. So, the Nokia 6.2 is now expected to get Android 11 in Q3 of 2021 instead of Q2. According to one report, something similar goes for other devices.

The company hasn’t shared any reason for this delay. But whatever the reason is, fans don’t like it and might start slipping away.
