Windows 11 23H2: OneDrive gets New features and settings

In a new preview of the Windows 11 23H2 update, Microsoft shows upcoming changes to system settings, alerts, and subscription options for OneDrive subscriptions. The features can be tried out with build 25145 in the dev channel. Insiders in Redmond’s Dev channel can now update to the new Windows 11 Preview Build 22145 to unlock new features.

One of the most important new features is the possibility to manage your personal OneDrive storage space directly within the settings (“Accounts” menu item). Previously, only Microsoft 365 subscriptions were listed here, but Microsoft now also elaborates on so-called OneDrive standalone subscriptions.

Users who can only access the cloud storage through their Microsoft account will find another point of contact that can be managed through the browser in addition to the OneDrive app or membership. In the same breath, the developers are currently adding a new warning if the OneDrive storage is running low. As usual, the feature is also rolling out in waves to insiders in the dev channel and should reach the average consumer by the fall of 2023 with the Windows 11 23H2 update.

Additional Features: Braille Driver, Administrator Passwords & Co.

In addition to improving OneDrive settings, Microsoft is optimizing driver support for Braille-enabled end devices and integrating the Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) into the operating system as standard. The developers in the official changelog drew attention once again to the new privacy tools, the wider rollout of the well-known “Suggested Actions”, and improvements to the tabbed file explorer. It can be assumed that some features will be included in the final version of Windows 11 before the 23H2 update.
