Windows 11 Beta Begins With New Start Page

Microsoft had already launched a revised start page for the settings app with a preview for Windows 11 in June. Now the Windows team is ready to start the improvements in the beta channel.

Dynamic and personalized experience

This new home page offers more options than before: “We’re introducing a new home page in Settings that offers you a dynamic and personalized experience. It provides an overview of your device, quick access to important settings, and helps you manage your Microsoft account,” explained Microsoft when presenting the improvement.

With the now-released KB5029339 update in the beta channel, a number of other improvements are starting. The Windows Insider team has published an overview of this on the Windows blog.

As usual, there are two builds to choose from for all Windows Insiders:

  • Build 22631.2262 = New features are introduced.
  • Build 22621.2262 = New features disabled by default.

Insiders previously using build 22624 will be automatically moved to build 22631 via an enablement pack.

The activation pack increases the build number for the update with new features being rolled out and activated to make it easier to distinguish devices with the update with features disabled by default. Microsoft starts with KB5029339, in addition to introducing a new start page in the Settings app, with improvements for backup and restore options.

For this purpose, the new backup app was released in the beta channel. There are no other innovations.

If you haven’t joined the beta tests for Windows 11 yet, you can join at any time. This is primarily worthwhile if you can get options that have already been tested via the beta or release preview channel so that you can use them before everyone else.
