Windows 11 Requirements: Laptops Must-Have Bluetooth 4.0 And Precision TouchPad

There are more and more new hardware requirements for the upcoming Windows 11 feature update. It is now said that Microsoft will require Windows 11 notebooks to offer Bluetooth 4.0 and Precision touchpad support.

This emerges from various reports for Microsoft developers. The information that 11 concepts are known in the wake of Windows are in this case, however, in parts quite amazing – for example, that Microsoft will require that from 2023 new Windows 11 laptops a front webcam with HD resolutions a must-have. So far, there have been extra classes of devices that have opted against it for cost reasons – and not every user wants a camera in their laptop for security reasons, for example.

More Requirements

The webcam requirement is not the only new mandatory hardware component for Windows 11 devices. As the online magazine Neowin now writes, a Precision Touchpad and Bluetooth 4.0 connection are also required. These two points have not yet been used by some manufacturers for reasons of cost.

Apart from the minimal hardware requirements, Windows 11 laptops will have to support certain functions in the future and will have the appropriate hardware installed for them. According to Microsoft’s documentation, Windows 11 laptops must be equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 or higher and support Precision Touchpad. These two requirements apply to laptops, tablets, and other handheld devices, but exclude desktop PCs. In addition, Microsoft mandates that Windows 11 devices must contain either WiFi or Ethernet for internet connection.

The minimum system requirements for Windows 11 also include Secure Boot and TPM 2.0, although at least the TPM 2.0 requirement can be bypassed for the moment. How this will look in the future, however, and also what it will look like with the other requirements that have now become known, is not yet known.
