With the OLED upgrade, Apple’s iPad Pro might go thinner

According to several reports, the Cupertino-based tech firm Apple is planning a major upgrade for its iPad Pro line. One of the most significant changes is the use of OLED displays. With this upgrade, the tablets could present a thinner form factor as compared to the previous models. According to the reports shared by folks at 9To%Mac, the upcoming OLED iPad Pro models will be 1mm thinner than the recent models.

The current 12.9-inch iPad Pro is 6.4mm thick. The upcoming version could be 5mm thin, as per reports. The 11-inch OLED iPad Pro is 5.9mm thick. With the upgrade, it might be 5.1mm in thickness. Besides this, the upcoming models might be a bit taller and wider than the previous ones. Interestingly, some reports suggests that the company might debut two different sizes of the iPad Air. Well, if this is true then it will for the first time that we will be having two version of the iPad Air. One will resemble the current model, and the other could have the same size screen and dimensions as the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

The estimated dimensions for Apple’s upcoming tablets are as follow: the recent 11-inch iPad Pro measures 247.6 mm x 178.5 mm x 5.9 mm and the upcoming model is expected to measure 249.7 mm x 177.5 mm x 5.1 mm. The recent 12.9-inch iPad Pro measures 280.6 mm x 214.9 mm x 6.4 mm whereas the upcoming versions is expected to measure 281.5 mm x 215.5 mm x 5.0 mm. The upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Air might measure 280.6 mm x 214.9 mm x 6.0 mm.

Besides this upgrade, we can expect MagSafe technology for the iPad Pro series. Reportedly, the upcoming models will be powered by M3 chips. These chips are built on a 3nm process that offers improved power efficiency and performance. Currently, there are no details on when these models will launch. However, some reports suggests that they will arrive by next month.
