With the One UI 6.1 upgrade, Samsung restores burn-in protection for OLED screens

Samsung’s One UI 6.0 upgrade included a number of enhancements and new capabilities. But they also did away with screen burn-in protection, an essential function for phones and tablets with OLED screens. With the One UI 6.1 upgrade, the business appears to have fulfilled its commitment to release that capability via software.

Older Galaxy phones now have OLED screen burn-in prevention thanks to One UI 6.1

Samsung updated the One UI 6.1 of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series a few days ago. One UI 6.1 restores OLED screen burn-in protection in addition to a number of AI functions, improved animations and transitions, and a few new features.

After testing One UI 6.1, the people at Toranji found that the screen burn-in protection functionality functions as planned. The UI elements of the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s navigation bar and status bar change slightly every few minutes, as seen in the GIF image above.

It’s unclear if this function is also available on the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series, even though it has only been tested on the Galaxy S23 series thus far. We have no reason to believe, though, that Samsung would not have included this capability in other devices but only in the Galaxy S23. View our in-depth videos below to see every feature that One UI 6.1 has to offer for older Galaxy devices.
