With WhatsApp’s Companion mode for iOS, up to four iPhones can be connected
We have previously heard about the companion mode of WhatsApp. Just a month ago the company rolled out eh Companion mode for Android. Using this feature, users could connect up to five Android smartphones to a single WhatsApp account. Some fresh pieces of information suggest that the feature is now rolling out for iOS users. However, iOS users can connect up to four iPhones.
The new feature will be introduced via the app’s version 23.10.76 for iOS. It is available for download from the App Store. Similar to Android, the iOS version will enable users to sync history as well as messages across all devices. Given this, the company assures that all conversations of users will remain end-to-end encrypted, including the linked devices.
One thing to notice here is that some features like broadcasting lists and status updates will be restricted to the main device only. They won’t be available on connected devices. In addition to this, the new version of the app now plays GIFs automatically. It means that users don’t have to tap on the message to play the GIF.
Besides this, a new feature for WhatsApp for business is on its way. It will be introduced to the Android version soon. According to the report, the Android version will receive a Status archive feature. This feature was spotted on a beta version of the software. Business owners will benefit from archiving particular account statuses so they can reuse them later.
