After waiting for two long years, Xiaomi is planning to announce the Mi Mix series. The expected date of announcement is March 29th.
In a statement, the company said, “Xiaomi MIX returns after two years! Due to its endless technical strength, it will live up to the expectations of hundreds of millions of users.” The company is expected to hold an event in China on March 29 in which it may announce the new flagship.
In the event, Xiaomi may also announce the Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra along with the Mi Mix Fold, a new Mi Notebook Pro and a new Mi Air Purifier. The big feature that the Mi Mix will bring is Liquid Lens technology.
It’s said that Liquid lens technology is different from traditional lenses in how they handle “focusing for cameras”. The traditional lens uses two lenses with fixed focal lenses and adjusts the distance between them to change the camera’s focal length.
On the other hand, the liquid lens technology allows light to pass through a liquid to vary the focal length of the camera. This is somehow the same thing as used in the optics of human eyes.
The Mi Mix Fold is expected to use the liquid lens technology, which would be the first phone using this technology.
This technology is only new for Xiaomi. According to the source, Huawei had already registered a patent for this technology about a year ago, and others are also researching this technology for quite a while now. One leak also claimed that Samsung is also working on the tech.
