Xiaomi to launch it’s first Watch that’ll run WearOS

Mi Watch Lite

A few years ago, Xiaomi used to be the biggest tech brand in China until Huawei took over. Among many other products, the company has its own smartwatches, and it’s all set to launch another. We have some leaked renders of the Xiaomi Watch 2, and rumors are that it’ll be the first smartwatch to run Wear OS.

Google has been working harder and releasing updates for Wear OS 3 more frequently for its wearable platform. Wear OS is used by many different smartwatch manufacturers; however, Xiaomi has chosen to stick with its own proprietary software instead.

The Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro, however, might support WearOS

The watch’s announcement was made by @mysterylupin on Twitter. You should treat this rumor with caution because it is only a rumor. The Xiaomi Watch 2 will have a stainless-steel body and be a high-end wristwatch. 1.43 inches could be the size of its screen, which would be made of Gorilla Glass. The rumor indicates that it will have an AMOLED display and that the resolution will be 466 x 466.

Now that we’ve covered the externals, the leak suggests that this watch might be powered by the Snapdragon E5+ wearable SoC. This is Qualcomm’s first wearable SoC, and it should perform exceptionally well. The watch may have 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage to support it. Thus, there will be sufficient space to download all the apps you desire.

We could provide a sizable 500 mAh battery to keep the lights on. This Xiaomi smartwatch should hopefully carry on the company’s record of long-lasting batteries. For software navigation, you’ll be using a rotating crown. There are two buttons on the side of the watch that will be used to perform different actions.

Still, the most prominent thing about this watch remains its software. As per information obtained via leak, this watch tends to run WearOS. Xiaomi is expected to run its own WearOS, just like Android manufacturers use their own Android skins.
