Xiaomi’s first clamshell foldable could arrive next year
In the foldable smartphone market, Xiaomi has introduced three book-style foldables. However, the company has nothing to offer in the clamshell category. Reportedly, the company might introduce its first clamshell foldable next year. The information comes from a tipster who shared it on Weibo. However, it should be taken with caution.
The tipster claims that the company is advancing its efforts with the MIX Flip development. According to the information shared by tipster, it appears that the clamshell foldable might debut earlier than the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4. This year, the company debuted the MIX Fold 3 in August. From this perspective, the MIX Fold 4 is expected to arrive around the same time next year. That implies that the Xiaomi MIX Flip—or whatever moniker Xiaomi decides to use—might be released earlier.
There is another possibility that the company might debut both devices at the same time, irrespective of the fact that the development of the MIX Flip is already in progress as compared to the MIX Fold 4. Furthermore, to keep the names of the two phones consistent, Xiaomi may decide to use the MIX Flip 4 moniker.
MIX Flip might feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC
In addition to this, the tipster asked the users a question. He questioned them about whether they would prefer using the MIX Flip if it featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. There is no clue whether this information is correct or whether the tipster is simply making a guess. Despite the recent release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the chipset is still incredibly strong. Even though it’s no longer the newest and greatest, chances are it wouldn’t be a problem for many users. Of course, the cost will also be a major factor. Whatever the situation may be, it is time for the company to debut a flip phone since they are more popular as compared to book-style foldables.
