The market for Android smartwatches saw a major shift with Wear OS 3. More third-party developers are now using the platform. In accordance with the most recent news, WhatsApp, the industry leader in instant messaging, has now made its official Wear OS software available, enabling users to access the messaging service directly from smartwatches running Wear OS.
Given the fact that WhatsApp’s Wear OS app is now officially available, the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 5, and other Wear OS smartwatches can stay connected and provide users with access to chats right from their wrists. Currently, the WhatsApp Wear OS app is presented with a simple list of recent contacts and the Settings menu. In addition to this, the ‘Open On Phone’ option is also provided.
Users can conveniently open a chat and scroll through previous messages. Similarly, users can reply to messages either via an audio message or text message. In group chats, users will be provided with two options i.e., ‘People in this conversation’ and another ‘Open On Phone.’ In order to set and use the WearOS version of WhatsApp enter the 8-digit code from your watch on your phone and pair both devices.
Once paired, the chats will sync from the phone to the Wear OS device. Do note that all chats are end-to-end protected. Unread messages are shown in a round complication on WhatsApp’s Wear OS app. The WhatsApp Contacts Tile has two shortcuts to jump to a contact, and the WhatsApp Voice Message Tile enables you to start recording your message right away.
In order to use the WhatsApp Wear OS app, sign up for the beta program. Make sure that the WhatsApp app on your Android phone and smartwatch is running v2.23.10.10+. If this is not the case, users can face problems with sign-up.
