WhatsApp will not work on these phones by the end of December
WhatsApp will not work on some phones by the end this year.
They are:
- Nokia Symbian S60 after June 30, 2017
- BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 after December 31st, 2017
- Windows Phone 8.0 and older after December 31st, 2017
- Nokia S40 after December 31st, 2018
- Android Versions 2.3.7 and older after February 1st, 2018
At first, it was reported that WhatsApp will end its services on these phone by end of 2016 but then the deadline was extended for six more months. Later the deadline was again pushed for six more months and now the final date is 31st December 2017.
Moreover, by 2020, WhatsApp is also planning to stop working on Android phones that have Android OS version 2.3.7 and older. 1st February 2020 is the deadline for implementation of this decision.
Furthermore, WhatsApp also confirmed that it is not working on these older phones, thus certain features might end working on these phones even before the deadline.
This much is clear that if you prefer WhatsApp, you need to change your phone if you are using one of these. Also investing in these phone in future will not be a sensible decision especially for WhatsApp lovers.
WhatsApp recently introduced a very interesting feature that enabled the users to delete messages sent to the receiver. This feature is called ‘Delete For Everyone’. Once the message is deleted, it is replaced by ‘this message was deleted’. Users have 7 minutes to delete the message after they have sent it.
