Fairphone 5 appears on Geekbench

It appears that a new Fairphone is on its way to enter the smartphone market. Well, it will be the Fairphone 5 that will substitute the Fairphone 4 introduced almost two years back. Just recently, the company released the /e/OS SU version of the Fairphone 4. A few weeks back, images of the Fairphone 5 emerged on the internet. One thing to notice here is that the company has not shared any information about the upcoming smartphone. However, it could be launched soon since the smartphone emerged on Geekbench with its key features. In this short piece, we will quickly go through the expected features of the Fairphone 5.

The shared images reveal that the smartphone has round edges. The camera island is triangular in shape. Besides this, the front camera appears to be located in a small punch hole. It is different from the previous model. Overall, the bezels are slim. The display measures 6.3 inches.

As per the information fetched from the Geekbench, the Fairphone 5 runs Android 13. It comes with 8GB RAM onboard. There is no information regarding other storage options but they could be there. Notably, the smartphone is fueled by an octa-core processor. The processor has been named “Lahaina” in the Geekbench listing’s Motherboard section. This information suggests that it could be the Snapdragon 782G SoC.

The rest of the features remain unknown at the moment. However, the images show that the smartphone has two cameras on the back. It has a USB-C port and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, but no 3.5mm headphone jack.
