Facebook gets a new video tab just like Instagram
Meta is prioritizing short-form video content across its platforms as a step to outcompete TikTok. As per some recent pieces of information, Facebook now includes a new improved video tab. Reportedly, the tab makes it look a lot like Instagram. Previously, Facebook was driven toward long-form video content. But the arrival of TikTok changed things drastically. Since then, the company has shifted its priorities and focus.
TikTok has taken a huge audience away from Instagram. For this reason, Meta observed a decline in Instagram’s ad revenue. Since then, Mark Zuckerberg has been considering how to turn Instagram into the one location to find short videos. This is a difficult job because it competes not only with TikTok but also with YouTube Shorts and Spotlight on Snapchat.
Facebook introduces a new Video tab
Facebook has redesigned its video hub. The Facebook Watch tab is no longer officially available though it has served the consumers for about six years. the new tab contains several new buttons on the top. They can be used to curate the video. Live videos, Reels, Music videos, and creators you follow are the buttons you can find under the new tab. Users will have access to videos in the For You section by default upon accessing the new tab.
Users will be presented with a video feed in the For You section based on what the algorithm assumes that a user likes. It is also accompanied by a Reels section. The reels will appear in the ‘For You’ feed. Users can interact with these videos in the same manner as Facebook posts. Users can “Like”, comment, react, and share the content they prefer.
A search button on the top right corner of the screen is also presented. It can be used for searching for keywords and hashtags. Users will also have access to recommended hashtags. This is quite a nice addition for users who prefer Facebook for a video-watching experience.
