Android 14 is now official

The tech giant Google postponed the release of Android 14 for a month in order to align its release with the launch of the Pixel 8 series. The new OS is now ready to be rolled out to Google Pixel devices. Notably, the Pixel 8 series comes with Android 14 pre-installed.

Besides the Pixel 8 series, some other Pixel devices, including the Pixel 5a, Pixel 6 series (Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a), Pixel 7 series (Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 7a), Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet, will receive Android 14 updates. Additionally, this indicates that at this time, only the Pixel 5a, which does not use a Tensor, is still supported.

Android 14 updates

Well, the new OS can’t be regarded as a big user-facing update. Many of the changes are hidden or pertain to the security and privacy of your device. A majority of features will be introduced via a Feature Update, which is expected to arrive soon. Notably, the most significant update in Android 14 is the modifications to the battery stats page in Settings. Now, this may merely be a problem for reviewers who need to test the battery life before reporting on it. However, it is really convenient to be able to see the screen on time immediately after opening it.

Customizable lock screen

We all know that Apple lets its users customize their lock screens. It was something that inspired Google, and now we have it in the form of the Android 14 update. With Android 14, users can choose different clock faces and styles, be it a digital clock or an analog clock.

In addition to this, it includes a few other minor modifications. For instance, users can remove the ‘OK’ button that appears after entering the pin. It indicates that the phone will automatically unlock once the pin is entered. It might sound like a tiny update, but anyway, it is useful. Besides this, users can manage their regional preferences, like selecting the preferred temperature unit and the start day of the week.
