You may now use YouTube Music to search for music by humming or singing along
The Google Podcasts app has been discontinued recently. YouTube Music is being updated progressively to close the gap created by this move. Recently, the app was updated with a new feature called “Trim Silence.” And with the latest update, the app will allow you to find a song by simply humming it.
To make it simpler for you to search for a song whose name you don’t know, Google added a function to the YouTube app for Android in October 2023 that lets you search for a song by humming, singing, or playing a snippet of that song. The same feature is currently being rolled out by the firm to YouTube Music for iOS (via 9to5Google).
A user on Reddit shared an image claiming to show the addition of a new button to the right of the voice search button on the YouTube Music app for iOS. This is the identical button that the YouTube app for Android designates as “Song,” enabling you to search for a song by humming or singing the song or by playing any of its clips.
As of right now, it’s unknown whether the most recent functionality is included in the app’s stable or beta versions. It appears like Google is only making it available to a small group of people in a small number of areas. We hope that Google soon adds the capability to the YouTube Music app for Android users to search for a song by humming, singing, or playing a sample of the song.
