Apple Launches Apple Invites App to Simplify Event Planning
Apple has officially launched its new Apple Invites app for iPhone, designed to make organizing events, parties, and gatherings a breeze. The app combines features like managing RSVPs, creating invitations, and even collaborative shared photo albums and music playlists, all in one place.
Internally referred to as “Confetti,” the app was initially expected to undergo testing among Apple employees. However, Apple has surprised everyone by releasing it publicly, with the app now rolling out to users worldwide.
Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple’s senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps and iCloud, expressed the company’s vision for the app in a statement:
“With Apple Invites, an event comes to life from the moment the invitation is created, and users can share lasting memories even after they get together. Apple Invites brings together capabilities our users already know and love across iPhone, iCloud, and Apple Music, making it easy to plan special events.”
What Does Apple Invites Offer?
Apple Invites makes event planning more collaborative and seamless. Here’s what you can expect:
- Shared Contributions: Invitees can add photos, videos, and even contribute to collaborative Apple Music playlists tied to the event.
- Flexible Access: While the event organizer needs to be an iCloud+ subscriber, attendees don’t need an Apple account to participate.
- Privacy Controls: Attendees can control what details are visible to others and choose to leave the event group at any time.
- Organizer Features: Event organizers can manage RSVPs, share directions via Apple Maps, and even cancel the event if needed.
How to Get Started
The app itself is free to download, but the organizer must have an iCloud+ subscription, which starts at just $0.99 per month. Once the event is set up in Apple Invites, everyone on the invitation list can easily join and contribute without needing any additional subscription.
Availability
Currently, Apple Invites is in the process of rolling out globally. At the time of writing, users in the US and the UK have already been able to access the app. However, Apple notes that some features may not be available in all regions or languages, similar to limitations with iCloud+.
