Pixel 11 Pro Fold Leak: Expected function appears to be missing

A current leak shows Google’s upcoming folding smartphone in a new color variant. In addition to optical adjustments to the camera module, the images indicate a slimmer housing. However, there is no trace of an expected feature.

Revised design for the foldable

Almost a month before the official unveiling on August 12th in New York, a new image shows the upcoming Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The folding smartphone from Google is presented in the new color variant Pine, a muted shade of green with a light frame. Compared to its predecessor, the device retains the familiar shape, but has slight optical adjustments. The most noticeable innovation concerns the camera module on the back.

As could already be seen on older CAD renders, the LED flash, which was placed separately in the predecessor, is moved to the left side and is integrated directly into the glass cover of the lenses. It also looks larger visually. The surround of the camera elements now extends across the entire width of the module, making the additional metal edge significantly smaller. However, the arrangement of the telephoto lens, main camera and ultra-wide-angle camera remains unchanged.

In addition to the visual adjustments, unconfirmed information indicates changes in dimensions. The device should measure 10.1 millimeters when folded and 4.8 millimeters when opened. That would be a clear reduction compared to the 10.8 and 5.2 millimeters of the predecessor. It is still unclear whether the slimmer profile results in a smaller battery.

Missing feature?

A much-discussed feature is missing from the current picture, which is from Mystic Leaks comes, but completely. Preliminary reports suggested that Google would integrate the Pixel Glow feature across its portfolio. The special LED lighting was already used in the Google Home Speaker at the beginning of the year. However, no corresponding element can be seen in the pictures. One possibility would be that the function is located entirely in the enlarged camera flash. Overall, the leaked details indicate careful product care.

There are no indications of major technological leaps. For customers who were hoping for major changes to Google’s folding smartphone, the current adjustments may be too small. There was also already talk of a significant price increase compared to its immediate predecessor. The current Pixel 10 Pro Fold currently costs from around 1,800 euros and up.
