Four games, zero euros: Steam free weekend tempts with Diablo 4

Four games, one weekend, zero euros: Steam opens the gates to Diablo 4, Sea of Thieves, Last Flag and Jump Space. PC players can test the full versions for free until Sunday evening – after that access will be over again.

Four games to try out

Steam is opening the doors to four full games this weekend – but only for a limited time. Users can do so until Sunday, September 21st, 7 p.m. German time Try Diablo 4, Sea of Thieves, Last Flag and Jump Space for free. Access then ends automatically. If you browse the Steam library at the weekend, you will mainly find titles that focus on shared rounds. The offering ranges from dark action role-playing games to pirate sandboxes and smaller multiplayer productions.

Diablo 4 sends players into the open, demon-threatened world of Sanctuary. The action role-playing game from Blizzard can be fully tested as part of the campaign. If you want to continue playing, you can buy the title with a 75 percent discount until September 24th.

Sea of Thieves takes teams to the high seas. Rare’s online pirate world is about treasure maps, sea battles, expeditions and often unpredictable contact with other crews. The game is 65 percent off until September 27th.

Last Flag is aimed at fans of competitive online games. Night Street Games’ PvP hero shooter is also part of the free weekend. According to the information available, there is no additional discount; the game currently costs 3.99 euros.

Jump Space takes teams of up to four people into space. The crew must operate their spaceship, explore planets and assert themselves against dangers in the cooperative PvE adventure. There is a 40 percent discount until September 24th.

Important: Not permanently free

The campaign is a so-called free weekend. Steam unlocks the full versions for a limited period of time, but the license does not become permanent ownership after it expires. If you want to continue playing after Sunday evening, you have to buy the respective title. If you purchase at a later date, the game progress achieved during the test period will usually be retained. This distinguishes the offer from “free-to-keep” promotions: with these, all you have to do is add a game to your account during the promotion period. It then remains permanently in the library – even if it is not installed until much later. With the current Steam offer, however, you have to be quick when downloading, starting and playing before the end of the weekend.

Pay attention to the time window

The free test phase ends on September 21, 2026 at 7 p.m. German time. Especially with extensive downloads of Diablo 4 or Sea of Thieves, it is worth not starting the installation until shortly before it expires. For those who are curious, the weekend primarily offers the chance to take a look at different multiplayer worlds without making a purchase decision: a demon hunt in Sanctuary, the search for prey on the ocean, quick PvP duels or teamwork on a spaceship.
