GTA 5: Mega leak reveals alternative endings including audio to listen to

An extensive data set with 192 gigabytes of internal files from Rockstar Games is currently circulating on the Internet. It contains early map drafts for GTA 6, but above all exciting details about never-published expansions and alternative endings for GTA 5.
192 gigabytes of GTA data leaked
The release of GTA 6 is getting closer and closer and the marketing machine is starting to hum. Rockstar announced the soundtrack on records that cost more than the game itself, Spotify put up huge billboards in US cities and Sony presented an exclusive version of its DualSense controller in Leonida design.
At the same time, however, there is now another data leak involving internal developer files from Rockstar Games, which is currently spreading on the Internet. The 192 gigabyte archive contains source codes, early drafts for the game as well as details about deleted content for GTA 5. The data originally comes from a major hacker attack in 2022 and is now being made available to the general public.
Hacker Arion Kurtaj, who is currently in custody, was responsible for the original theft. The stolen files had apparently been circulating in closed circles for some time. The entire archive is said to have appeared on a Discord server for cheat software last year, but remained largely unnoticed in a discussion channel. Now the community is analyzing the material in detail.
Deprecated expansion for GTA 5
As Insider gaming reported, most of the finds focus on discarded expansions for the fifth part of the series. Users of the map editor CodeWalker discovered outlines of a planned expansion for Liberty City. The map should be significantly larger than the well-known version from the fourth part of Grand Theft Auto. The developers apparently planned a return to the fictional metropolis for Franklin, Trevor and Michael, but ultimately abandoned the project. In addition, the archive contains data on a canceled single-player DLC called “Agent Trevor”.
The developers planned, among other things, a spaceship backdrop with spacesuits and an Arabian villa with underground facilities. Alternative story endings for the main game are also documented. In one scenario, for example, Trevor falls into liquid nitrogen, freezes and then shatters. The scene has even already been done by the actors spoken: Interesting: On that X-profile by @Mattdek There is a lot more material from the leak to see, including additional sound recordings and 3D models.
Rockstar Games originally promised several single-player content updates following the game’s release in 2013. However, the great financial success of Grand Theft Auto Online led to a realignment. From then on, the resources flowed into the more lucrative online mode, while the planned story expansions were completely canceled. Some concepts later found their way into the multiplayer mode in a modified form.
Early prototypes of GTA 6
In addition to the material for the fifth part, the leak also contains early test environments for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6. Metadata suggests that the rough three-dimensional models date back to 2015. They show, for example, early versions of the Vice City Airport. Since these are very old files, they of course do not reflect the current status of the title.
However, the material offers a detailed insight into the working methods and the rejected ideas of Rockstar Games. At the same time, the leak highlights the security problems in which internal development data is leaked to the public in an uncontrolled manner. An official statement from the development studio on the renewed distribution of internal data is still pending.
