iPad 12 before a huge upgrade: This is how powerful Apple’s entry-level tablet is
More RAM, its own modems and a new A19 processor: Apple will raise the iPad 12 to a completely new hardware level in 2027. With the upgrade, the group is preparing its cheapest tablet specifically for future AI applications.
New foundation for the iPad 12
Apple is probably in the process of significantly improving the technology of its next entry-level tablet. The iPad 12 is scheduled to be released in spring 2027 and will receive an architecture change, so it is highly anticipated. The following components are expected:
Eight gigabytes of RAM is a prerequisite for Apple Intelligence. The iPad 12 could support AI-based Siri functions for the first time. However, the more powerful features could increase maintenance costs in companies that have previously used the tablet as a simple work device.
Prices and other Apple hardware
In terms of price, the next basic iPad will be based on the current model, which costs $449 (around 380 euros) in the USA. An update to the iPad mini is also expected in October. The compact tablet will receive the A20 Pro chip, improved speakers and an optimized front camera. According to rumors, it could get an OLED display for the first time.
Own chips for more efficiency
Reports MacRumors According to an analysis of internal software codes, Apple wants to replace additional components from third-party providers. The C1X modem is intended to support 5G networks below six gigahertz and work more efficiently than previous Qualcomm solutions. This could improve battery life. The N1 chip should also enable connections via Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and the Thread smart home protocol. Internal documents also contain references to a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K and new colors for the HomePod mini. Foldable smartphones like the iPhone Duo are also still in development. Apple apparently wants to reduce its dependence on external suppliers and standardize the hardware basis of its product portfolio.
